That 5 minute trick on Facebook that will increase your blog traffic and get you a customer

Do the following sounds familiar? You work your *ss off to be heard and get people to visit your blog – which is by the way awesome and full of useful tips – but sometimes you have the feeling that not even your friends know what you’re working on. (No matter how many times you’ve mentioned the name of your biz.) Well, it’s time for a change!

the "aha" moment

I was in the same situation until a memorable moment in a Facebook group.  I’ve just joined, so I wrote a few sentences about who am I and why I’m here. A few minutes later Sagi, the admin of the group (Mindful & Ruthless by Sagi Shrieber) left me this comment: “That’s awesome Réka! Happy to have you here in the group 🙂 what’s the link to your blog?”

Yeppp. That was the moment when I realised, that there is NOTHING on my personal Facebook page about my business. I have a bunch of friends and I haven’t even given them the chance to find me.

So I implemented a few changes and the results?
– 105 post likes in total
– 9 comments with congratulations
– 4 new followers on Instagram
– 245 new page visits on the blog

And yes, I know these are not miraculous numbers, but they totally worth 5 minutes of work. Also, since I set up Reka Veszeli as my job, 4 old friends sent me a message about possible cooperation – not bad in less than two weeks 🙂

let's see how you can do it

The goal is to add the following to your profile:
  • a short, but effective bio (Intro)
  • your biz as a job
  • the URL of your website
  • your social media links
Also to share your new job and intro as a post to reach more people.

1) Add your website to your profile

  • Go to your profile > About > Contact and basic info. Click on Add a website
  • Add your site URL (http is not needed, FB will add it automatically)
  • Make sure you’ve set it as Public, then hit Save Changes

2) Add your social links to your profile

  • Go to your profile > About > Contact and basic info. Click on Add a social link
  • Choose a social network and add your URL (http is not needed, FB will add it automatically)
  • Click on Add another social link to add the next one
  • Make sure you’ve set it as Public, then hit Save Changes

3) Add your biz as a workplace

  • Go to your profile > About > Work and education. Click on Add a workplace.
  • Start typing in your biz name. If you have a Facebook page for your business it will appear in the list, so you can choose it. (It will also link your page to your personal profile 😉 ) If you have no page, then just add the name of your brand and click on Create.
  • Add a position like Founder or CEO.
  • You can write a short introduction and put your URL in the Description. (It won’t be visible on the main page only in your About section.)
  • Make sure you’ve set it as Public, then hit Save Changes

4) Share

Facebook will automatically offer you the option to share your new workplace with your network. Just do it 😉

4) Add an intro

I suggest to do this step 3-7 days later. Why? Because you’ll have the opportunity to post your bio. If you wait a bit you’ll have the chance to draw the attention to your brand and work.

Your bio can be 101 caracter, so be wise and creative 🙂

Useful tips and advice

  • Be proud of what you’re doing. Share your finest posts and articles with an honest description. You’ve reached a milestone? Share that too.
  • Don’t be spammy. Sharing every post of yours two times a day can end easily in getting hide on your friend’s newsfeed. Balance is the key.
  • ALWAYS be grateful to those who support you.

Besides my husband and family, my biggest supporters are the best ex-colleague / friend / animation genius and the most customer-oriented wedding designer you can ever met.

@LeuskaDesign: Unique, high-quality wedding stationery and wedding decor

  • A little extra help can be useful – especially in the beginning. You can ask your friends time to time to comment / like / share your content. Drop them a message and explain why it is important to you.
  • Don’t forget that you can only join a Facebook group with your personal account. If you’re a member of professional groups make sure your personal profile is in line with your business values.
  • Success can take a little time. Enjoy the small results and don’t stress out. 🙂
